"Heidi Latsky's "Disjointed," is a beautiful gift of love to her deceased mother...Even today when postmodern dance admits more drama and feeling, presenting a dance this nakedly emotional is a gutsy move. Latsky and her dancers pull it off with the utmost of finesse." - Eva Yaa Asantewaa, Gay City News

disjointed premiered to critical acclaim in May 2006 at Danspace Project at St Mark's Church in New York City. disjointed is an evening length multi-media performance that celebrates the universality of isolation and the heroic and empowering struggle against it. Latsky's vision for disjointed was initially inspired by her mother, who suffered from brain tumors for 35 years of her life. The work is also informed by the empowering movement workshops Latsky conducted with individuals from a variety of disenfranchised groups who, like Latsky's mother, have endured social isolation with grace and dignity.

Set within a sea of crumpled Kleenex- the opening image of disjointed is of 25 angelic figures moving in and out of unison like a bird laboring to ascend. The piece then seamlessly transitions into Latsky's renowned signature solo, Grace, which was first performed at "Day without Art' in memory of Arnie Zane. Shifting to explore three individual's quest to cope with the intricacies of terminal illness, the next section features a duet created by celebrated choreographer, Sean Curran. Emotional, poignant and incredibly inspiring, disjointed is a tribute to anyone who has struggled through a life-altering challenge to discover the beauty and meaning of the complexities of life.

More than a provoking work of theater, disjointed reaches out to the community to provide - through performance, discussions, master classes and/or workshops - a unique vehicle for local presenters, medical/health care organizations and the dance community to create awareness and support for those facing terminal or chronic illness.

Performances of disjointed, including residency engagements, are currently being booked for the current and upcoming season.

"...inspired by her mother, whose last years were shattered by a series of brain surgeries.. Heidi Latsky and Jeffrey Freeze exhibited passion, virtuosity and a hard-edged style, a lively dance intelligence and a disciplined virtuosity."
- Jennifer de Poyen, The San Diego Union-Tribune

"Something extraordinary happened this weekend at St. Mark's Church. Heidi Latsky, the former Bill T. Jones dancer turned feisty downtown choreographer, premiered a dance so impassioned - and so good - that the packed audience sat spellbound. "disjointed" is a work of tremendous power. "
Joy Goodwin, The New York Sun

"The duet, to music from Jacques Demy's "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" was particularly affecting, with rigorous, repurposed balletic movement providing a sturdy formal container for an exploration of grief." -- Jennifer de Poyen, The San Diego Union-Tribune

"Latsky herself-a diminutive vessel of energy, concentration, and passion-offered a concise solo in which she manipulated a long, blood-red Isadora-ish scarf, and it was a la gloire all the way." -- Tobi Tobias, The Village Voice
